Filming diary 5

Today I planned to do more filming however the weather forecast is due to rain during the times in which I can film therefore I will have to reschedule because I don't want to ruin any of the equipment. Also in the footage I have already filmed it is not raining therefore it will look unprofessional if in half of the video it is raining and in the other half it is not.

This is the second draft of my music video. It is quite a lot different from the first draft as I had to use a different location and different actor. I have only had chance to film the opening and ending of the music video due to weather conditions etc. I am quite happy with the results because I think the timing is good however I think a couple of the shots need reshooting due to bad framing and wobbling of the camera which I should hopefully be able to complete in the holidays. I am feeling a lot more confident using the editing system now.

The results of the shoot

Here are some of my favourite pictures that I took because I think the framing and lighting is right for them.

 I really like this one since the lighting makes her face have lots of colour and I think the framing fits really well for an album cover. I also like how it makes her eyes look slightly darker underneath because int he video she cries and is going through a hard time therefore it reflects the lyrics and fits with the theme.

 I think this image would be good for the actual print of the CD because it is slightly blurred and she isn't looking directly at the camera which I like. It also fits with the theme.

I really like this photo and think that I wil use it for my magazine advert. This is because the framing is quite good as there is room above her head for a mast head etc. I also like how you can only see one of her eyes and how the shadow from her hood makes her face look darker because it creates a mysterious feel.  

I also think I could use this image for the front cover since she is looking directly at the camera which is conventional of main images. The back ground is whiter than the other image that I said I could use for the front cover which would probably make it easier to make into a front cover. I am still deciding which one to use.

Shots for ancillary

I booked out the Canon camera to take some still images of Maia that I could possibly use for my CD cover and poster. We went into the studio to take the pictures because there are different types of lighting I could use which mean I could highlight certain areas and give the image a certain feel.

Filming diary 4

Filming today was successful since the weather stayed good therefore I could film outside. I filmed the opening and ending of the video today and hopefully I shouldn't need to reshoot. I think the footage that I got was fairly good and there are some shots that I really like however I think I could improve on some things such as:

• Planning exactly what shot I needed.
• Having an extra person with me to look after equipment and take behind the scenes pictures.

Filming diary 3

This afternoon I plan on filming the opening and ending of my music video. Maia will fall asleep on a bench waiting for her train and in her dream she will get onto the train and then the rest of the video will be of her 'dream'. At the end of the video she will wake up on the same bench and get onto the train again but this time it will be real. 

I have checked the train times to make sure there is one when I film and found that they come every half an hour which means I should be able to get all of the footage I need for today.

I wanted to film the part of the video when Maia gets drunk however I brought a can of beer to use but realised that she probably wouldn't get drunk off one can therefore I want to use a bottle of vodka or something stronger. Therefore we have planned to meet up in the holidays to do the rest of the filming. 

Questionaire results

From these results I found that I should use 2-3 people in my video however I think I am only going to use one. I also foud that people like to see a moral in a music video and many of the people I asked were 16-18 years old. Many people said it shouldn't be abstract which I disagree with because whilst the song is quite naturalistic, I think the video would be easier to understand with special effects and abstract acting since I intend to use themes such as alcoholism and drug abuse.
